Snow, Snow, Snow!

Thinking of doing a unit on Snow this January? Let's start with some snow related crafts.

Crafts
Everything Preschool has an entire page on making snowflakes, snowmen, and snow pictures. I especially like the one where they make a summer picture and then splash snow paint all over it.

Preschool Education also has an entire page dedicated to snowflake projects. My favorite one is I think a pretty simple one.

Glistening Snowflake added 12-29-98 Original Author Unknown

Need: tape, doily, paper plate, paint brush, paint, silver glitter

Directions: Lightly tape a doily to a paper plate. Use a paintbrush to gently dab blue tempera all over the doily. While paint is still wet, remove the doily. Sprinkle silver glitter on the wet paint. Shake off excess glitter and cut around the pattern.

Snow Songs

Here is a song I wrote back in 2007

Snowflakes
Sing to Twinkle Twinkle

Snowflakes Snowflakes everywhere (wiggle fingers)
On my mittens, on my hair (hands palm up, touch hair)
Roll them up to make a ball (roll hands)
Build a snow fort with a wall (mime wall)
Snowflakes Snowflakes everywhere (wiggle fingers)
On my mittens, on my hair. (hands palm up, touch hair)

Bulletin Boards

Cut out mittens from construction paper and put numbers on them. Make your bulletin board a giant number matching file folder game.
