Teaching about Noah's Ark

If you teach in a Christian school this story is a standard in most Christian curriculums.
Here are some ideas to open the story. Put on a raincoat and rain hat. Tell the children it could rain at any moment. If it isn't raining outside then say, but I have faith it will rain. Then tell them about Noah and how he obeyed God when he was told there would be enough rain to make the entire earth an ocean. After this you can read your story. There are many versions of this story in print for preschoolers.

You can also print out Noah's Ark character figures for a file folder game:

Crafts

Of course DLTK Crafts has an entire page of Noah's Ark Printables If you have never been to this site, then set aside some time because you will search it for hours. It is a truly remarkable resource.

A Kid's Heart has a cute paper plate craft
that requires only glue, paper, colors, and craft sticks.

Games

Noah's Ark Parachute Game

Put all the children around the parachute. Either sing or put on a cd of Rise and Shine, Give God the glory, glory. The children raise and lower the parachute to the "Rise and Shine" part of the song. On all the other parts they walk around in a circle holding the parachute. Here are the words:
Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
Children of the Lord
The Lord said to Noah:
There's gonna be a floody, floody
The Lord said to Noah:
There's gonna be a floody, floody
Get those children out of the muddy, muddy
Children of the Lord

So Noah
He built him, he built him an arky, arky
Noah
He built him, he built him an arky, arky
Built it out of gopher barky, barky
Children of the Lord

The animals, the animals,
They came in by twosie, twosies
The animals, the animals,
They came in by twosie, twosies
Elephants and kangaroosie, roosies
Children of the Lord

It rained and poured
For forty daysie, daysies
It rained and poured
For forty daysie, daysies
Nearly drove those animals crazy, crazies,
Children of the Lord

The sun came out and
dried up the landy landy
The sun came out and
dried up the landy landy
Everything was fine and dandy, dandy
Children of the Lord

Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
Children of the Lord

The animals they came off
They came off by three-sies three-sies
Animals they came off
They came off by three-sies three-sies
Grizzly bears and chimpanzee-sies zee-sies
Children of the Lord

Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
Rise and shine

The end of my story, story
Everything is hunky dory, dory
Children of the Lord

Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
